Trading Notes | The Cancun Upgrade and Blobs
① EIP-4844 introduced a new transaction type that carries blobs. Each blob contains 4,096 data units of 32 bytes each, or approximately 128 KB.
② Ethereum’s Cancun upgrade (Dencun) went live on March 13, 2024. The most significant change was EIP-4844, also known as Proto-Danksharding.
③ When demand for blobs suddenly increases, blob fees will rise too. Layer 2 fees won’t always be so cheap.
