Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the company holds 150,000 bitcoin $BTC, and that its mining operations have surpassed 50 exahashes per second in partnership with others.

He made the remarks at the Plan ₿ Forum 2026 in Lugano on October 23 and 24, where Ardoino spoke about the size of the treasury and the technical infrastructure his team has built for mining.

He said the company made its mining framework open source, which means external developers can inspect it and build tools on top of it instead of keeping it in-house.

The most controversial argument concerns block time: Arduino believes that ten minutes is not a flaw in the Bitcoin network, but an advantage that gives even remote villages enough time to download a block, describing this as genuine financial inclusion. These figures and statements are what the CEO said on the platform, and they were not accompanied by details of an independent audit.

If you’re following the impact of corporate treasuries on available supply, 150,000 bitcoins held by a single company means that a portion of the supply doesn’t move with short-term market fluctuations, which could change how you interpret flow data.

The takeaway to remember: a single stable company is becoming both a mining whale and a treasury holder.
