I saw the news about South Korea’s stock market triggering a circuit breaker this morning, and my first thought was: this isn’t just a South Korean problem.

The KOSPI briefly fell nearly 8.8%, dropping below 5,000 points. The Nikkei also fell below 60,000, down more than 20% from its June high. The sell-off stemmed from the previous night’s AI sell-off in U.S. stocks, with the Nasdaq 100 down 6.4% in a single day.

Asia was the first to take the hit: AI supply-chain stocks like SK Hynix and Samsung Electro-Mechanics fell anywhere from 12% to 17%.

My take: the easiest mistake to make in a moment like this is to focus on one market and try to buy the dip. With the U.S. jobs report due tonight—and the Fed potentially raising rates—I’d rather sit back and watch for now than rush in.

Are you buying the dip amid the turmoil, or waiting to see what the jobs report says?
