Europe’s largest asset manager, Amundi, launched an Ethereum share class of its Core STOXX Europe 600 fund on November 5. Investors are buying units in this existing fund; the 600 underlying stocks are not on-chain.

$ETH was quoted at $2,225 that day, down 8.1% over 24 hours. Tokenization has expanded from money market funds to European equities, but the form of ownership remains traditional fund units.

Can these kinds of “on-chain shares” really improve the settlement efficiency of the underlying assets?
