On November 5, the General Office of the State Council announced the 2027 public holiday schedule. The Spring Festival holiday runs from Lunar New Year's Eve on February 5 through the eighth day of the first lunar month on February 13, for a total of nine days. The two make-up workdays are January 31 and February 14, both Sundays. For people buying round-trip tickets, February 14 is especially worth marking: it immediately follows the last day of the holiday, and according to the notice, it is a workday.

【Looking at the holiday's start and end dates alongside the two make-up workdays】

Sunday, January 31, is a make-up workday before the Spring Festival holiday.

Friday, February 5, is Lunar New Year's Eve and the first day of the holiday.

Saturday, February 13, is the eighth day of the first lunar month and the last day of the holiday.

Sunday, February 14, is a make-up workday after the Spring Festival holiday.

The two Sundays fall at different points. After the make-up workday on January 31, there are still February 1–4 before Lunar New Year’s Eve. At the other end of the holiday, work resumes the day after the holiday ends on February 13, with no extra day off in between. Looking only at the Saturdays and Sundays on the calendar, it’s easy to mistakenly count both February 13 and 14 as part of the holiday.

【For your outbound trip, check what time you can leave; for your return, check what time you can arrive】

If you want to get home by Lunar New Year’s Eve, consider the evening of February 4 as an option for your outbound trip. Whether you can leave that day depends on when you finish work and which services are available to book. When checking trips that cross midnight, be sure to verify the departure date: a service leaving in the early hours of February 5 has February 5 as its departure date on the ticket, even if you need to get to the station late on the night of the 4th.

If you’re due back at work according to the notice and plan to return on February 13, compare your estimated arrival time with your work start time on the 14th. A service departing on the evening of the 13th may not arrive until the 14th, and remember to allow time to travel from the station or airport to where you’re staying. If the connection is too tight, consider an earlier service or February 12 as an option. That way, when you check tickets, you’ll have several workable time slots to choose from.

【Check the holiday schedule, work roster, and ticket-sale information separately】

This notice sets out the nationwide holiday and adjusted workday schedule. The nine days refer to the total consecutive break, including adjusted days off. Shift workers and on-duty staff should check their organization’s specific arrangements to confirm which days they are off and when they return to work, then determine when they can travel.

Ticket-sale information for rail and air travel should be checked separately. First, use the holiday schedule and your personal work roster to decide which dates and times work for your outbound and return trips. Then check the services, ticket-sale dates, and availability through the relevant booking channels. If you’re returning on the 13th, remember to check the arrival date and time when looking for tickets.
