How is the “ETF net inflow” figure calculated?
Here’s how I understand it: In-kind creations and redemptions allow authorized participants to exchange Bitcoin directly for shares, so the fund doesn’t have to buy or sell Bitcoin on the market itself, which lowers costs.
Each trading day, an ETF calculates its net asset value (NAV) per share based on the assets it holds. A trading price above NAV is called a premium; below NAV, a discount.
What I do: I look at the cumulative trend in ETF fund flows over several weeks. Large inflows or outflows on a single day may be due to portfolio rebalancing by an individual institution.
The shares of a spot Bitcoin ETF are backed by Bitcoin actually held by the issuer: $BTC .
