Alberto Vieira, president of the National Federation of Hotels of Venezuela (Fenahoven), noted that the aim is to connect Venezuela’s business community with Portugal’s.

The president of the National Federation of Hotels of Venezuela (Fenahoven), Alberto Vieira, said they have held bilateral meetings with Portuguese businesspeople in the hotel sector following the visit of Portugal’s Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Manuel Castro Almeida.

In that regard, he stressed that two Portuguese companies are looking to invest in Venezuela and added that the aim is to connect the Portuguese and Venezuelan business communities with Portugal.

He estimated that hotel occupancy so far this year averages 30%, and stressed that “it is essential” to restore the state of La Guaira as a tourist destination.

Alberto Vieira said that taxes previously accounted for 5% of the hotel industry’s cost structure, but some hotels now pay up to 50% of their income in taxes.

He also stressed on Fedecámaras Radio that the hotels belonging to the Federation “have weathered these challenges and proposed solutions.”
