$BTC It plunged last night. Can we buy the dip today, or should we keep shorting? After the midterm elections, it’s been one plunge after another. Will it drop to 60,000? Don’t make wild guesses—I’ve done the research using market-maker data. These levels are crucial:

① Don’t buy the dip: The reason is that the market makers’ gamma flip point is around 775. This means that if the price can’t get above 775, the levels you call support at 75 and 74 are no safety net: if the price reaches them, market makers will choose to dump directly rather than step in and buy. Long-term dollar-cost averaging or DCA into spot is a different matter, but you absolutely shouldn’t buy the dip with short-term futures. Maybe you’ll guess right—but what if you’re wrong? Besides, market makers are currently using an acceleration strategy, chasing rallies and selling into drops. That’s simply not suited to buying dips on the left side for short-term trades.

② Two key levels:
765: This is the dividing line for market-maker strategies. Below this level, market makers use an acceleration strategy: the more the price falls, the harder they sell. That’s also why I don’t recommend buying the dip—the risk is high. Above this level, market makers use a buffering strategy, which is suitable for left-side swing trading. So if the price can’t get above 765 for a while, or the market runs into resistance there, it’s a very good opportunity to open a short position on the left side.

78: If the price reaches this level, it means market makers have already switched to a buffering strategy. They won’t chase rallies or sell into drops; instead, they’ll sell into resistance and buy at support. There is also considerable market-maker capital positioned to hold down the price at 78. So it’s suitable for opening short positions on the left side.

Today’s intraday short trade played out according to the market makers’ script. If you bought the dip and went long, you were gambling. As I said, you might guess right—but what if you’re wrong?
