$BTC Three pressures behind last night’s sharp crypto-market drop: political risk, geopolitical conflict, and market panic—Peach breaks it down for you

Last night, the crypto market saw a wave of heavy selling, with BTC, ETH, and major altcoins all under pressure. This decline was more than a simple technical pullback: the market has begun repricing political risk and the geopolitical situation.

Peach previously warned that if the Democrats win control of both chambers of Congress in the U.S. midterm elections, the market could face fresh policy uncertainty. For crypto markets, changing political dynamics could affect regulatory expectations, policy direction, and investors’ risk appetite—all of which could weigh on prices in the short term.

The second risk comes from the situation in the Middle East. The Trump administration is currently facing political pressure over the war with Iran. After the Republicans’ midterm election loss, Trump faces a difficult choice on Iran: push for negotiations to end the conflict, or continue military action? According to an Axios report on November 5, the U.S. military is preparing for the possible resumption of large-scale military operations, while Qatar is also pushing to restart U.S.-Iran negotiations.

There have been similar situations in the past. In 2006, the Bush administration suffered a major midterm election defeat, then pursued a troop surge strategy in Iraq in 2007. This does not mean Trump will necessarily take the same path, but historical cases show that after an election loss, U.S. foreign policy and military decisions may take a new direction.
