① On July 20, 2016, Ethereum hard-forked at block 1,920,000 in response to The DAO incident. The original chain that did not follow the fork continued as Ethereum Classic (ETC).
② The Shanghai upgrade (Shapella) on April 12, 2023, enabled staking withdrawals, allowing validators to retrieve their staked ETH.
③ Around major upgrades, some platforms may temporarily suspend deposits and withdrawals, so allow extra time when planning transfers.
