Let me share something I find pretty useful.
How does mainnet know that a Rollup’s results are correct?
From what I can see, L2BEAT classifies Rollups into three stages—Stage 0, 1, and 2—based on criteria such as their proof systems and whether users can exit on their own.
The idea behind fraud proofs is: “assume it’s correct unless someone challenges it, then investigate.” As long as there’s one honest participant keeping watch and challenging in time, an incorrect result can’t slip through.
$ARB is the governance token of Arbitrum, an Optimistic Rollup network that uses fraud proofs.
Have you also only figured things out after learning the hard way?
