Polkadot (@Polkadot) is advancing a major restructuring of its validator network as DOT holders vote on referendum 1966. The proposal marks the first of three planned weekly steps aimed at gradually reducing the active validator set from 600 to 320.
The initiative aims to simplify network operations and improve efficiency while expanding validators’ responsibilities. By the end of the year, the remaining validators are also expected to handle Polkadot App requests, bringing more network services under a unified infrastructure.
