🔒 Privacy coins lead against the trend: Democrats sweep Congress—why did Zcash rise instead?

According to CoinDesk: $ZEC 24-hour gain of about 11.7%, trading at around $1,318, with roughly $1.2 billion in daily volume, leading major coins.

👉 Catalyst: The NU7 network upgrade is expected to activate around this Friday. The target block interval will shrink from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, making exchange deposits available faster (three confirmations will take about 75 seconds instead of nearly 4 minutes).
⚠️ Concern: A Zcash community policy memo also warned that the new Congress may increase scrutiny of financial privacy and illicit funds. The new Congress takes office on January 3.

📊 Over the same period, $BTC was around $80,484 and $ETH around $2,425 (both figures cited by CoinDesk from CoinGecko data; prices have since pulled back).

My take: The upgrade is a “trade on expectations” catalyst, and good news is often priced in once it goes live. The regulatory narrative, meanwhile, is a sword hanging over the privacy sector. Before chasing the rally, decide where you’ll get out if support breaks.

Do you think NU7 going live means “buy the rumor, sell the news” or “another leg up”? Let’s discuss in the comments 👇
