The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the U.S. banking regulator, has published a framework for its examiners to assess how banks use superintelligence (SI) and agentic SI, and the risks and controls involved.

The document’s key points:

🔹 Examiners should not treat SI as a separate risk category.

🔹 Banks will not be required to define a specific risk tolerance level for SI.

🔹 The OCC will update the framework periodically as technology evolves and based on industry feedback.

The supervisor reminds us that, whether traditional or based on new technologies, banks’ activities must be safe, sound, and comply with the law. It also maintains what it calls a “technologically neutral” approach.
