Eli Lilly just did $24.4B in revenue in Q3, up 39% from a year ago, with $6.45B in net income. Most of it comes from one molecule, tirzepatide: Mounjaro brought in $10.7B and Zepbound $5.35B. That's $16B, about two-thirds of the company's revenue.
Now look at AI. OpenAI hit roughly a $50B annual revenue run rate by the end of September. That's about $12.5B a quarter, and it lost around $12.3B on operations in Q2 alone. Anthropic's revenue is growing like crazy, but compute costs keep eating it, so it isn't reliably profitable yet either.
