TON network validators have begun the final vote to activate Catchain 2.0, an upgrade designed to bring sub-second finality to the network. $TON

The first phase of the upgrade has been running since April 2, and the final vote began at 14:00 UTC to reduce block times to 400 milliseconds across the entire network.

For activation to be completed, the proposal needs support from at least 75% of validators by stake weight across two validation rounds lasting about 36 hours. The outcome has not yet been decided, and the upgrade cannot be considered activated until this threshold is reached.

If the vote passes, faster blocks could mean a more responsive experience for users and apps built on TON; but this remains a possibility dependent on the vote’s outcome.

Watch the 75% threshold: it’s the practical indicator that moves the upgrade from an initial stage to full activation.
