ME AI News, November 5 — At the Forum on Artificial Intelligence and Chinese Modernization, held during the 7th World Media Summit, the world’s first bionic humanoid robot news anchors made their official debut. This achievement marks the shift of an innovative communication model combining “authoritative news + embodied intelligence” from theoretical concept to real-world application, offering a new paradigm for news dissemination in the age of artificial intelligence. The newly unveiled robot news anchors, named “Xinyan” and “Xinyu,” were jointly developed by Xinhua News Agency and UBTECH. Chinese director Zhang Yimou served as their chief visual designer, and they were custom-built for news settings. Both robot anchors are life-size replicas. Powered by Xinhua’s AI political news agent “Xinhua Yudian,” as well as UBTECH’s independently developed end-to-end technologies—from bionic skin, embodied-intelligence hardware, and operating systems to emotion-focused large models and full-scale manufacturing—they are capable of delivering news reports on location.
