I use Binance a lot, but when it comes to tech, I have more respect for OKX

This impression mainly comes from talking with developers from both sides. At blockchain events like Token2049 and ETHGlobal in 2023, I’d often run into OKX developers; before 2025, I rarely came across developers from Binance.

When chatting with people at OKX, you can tell they’re genuinely interested in Web3 technology itself. During the inscription craze in 2023, developers from the wallet team were happy to talk about all sorts of things—from how to think about these kinds of assets to what was rough around the edges in inscription design. And if you took the conversation further, you could talk about how X Layer uses ZKP, how ZK circuit proofs are implemented, and why they’re bullish on ZK.

Quite a few of them also hold ETH, so we had common ground when talking about Vitalik. Idealistic geeks getting stuck holding ETH—it’s a pretty familiar sight in the crypto world 🤣

Since 2025, I’ve also met some developers from the Binance ecosystem, and the impression has been a little different. They may have great résumés and backgrounds, but some don’t know much about crypto-native concepts and aren’t particularly interested in them. They seem more like employees at traditional internet giants. Of course, these are just the people I’ve met and don’t represent everyone. It’s perfectly normal for employees to focus on their assigned roles; it’s just that, for people who’ve spent a long time immersed in Web3, it’s easier to find common ground with OKX developers.
