$ETH
This move from 2309 to 2416, a gain of over 4% in 24 hours, came with trading volume reaching $10.4 billion. On the surface, it looks like a rebound alongside other risk assets, but I think what’s really worth discussing is the macro transmission chain behind it—the Democratic sweep in the U.S. midterm elections.

First, let’s clarify what happened: once the midterm results came in, Democrats had won both chambers. The market’s first reaction was to price in greater expectations of fiscal stimulus, smoother progress on infrastructure and clean energy policies, and potentially tighter regulation of tech giants. Overall, though, risk appetite moved higher. The Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq futures moved in different directions, while tech stocks like NVDA and MU were singled out for discussion. That shows investors are repricing both “policy beneficiaries” and “policy headwinds.”

So how does this feed into crypto? The path is actually pretty straightforward: election results are confirmed → uncertainty eases → expectations for the dollar and interest rates turn marginally dovish → risk assets’ valuations recover → investors add crypto as a high-beta asset. Major, large-cap coins like ETH have good liquidity and are easy for institutions to trade, so they’re often the first stop for traditional investors looking to “test the waters” in crypto. So ETH’s move above 2416 and up to 2450 today wasn’t driven by any major on-chain news—it was a result of macro sentiment spilling over. The $10.4 billion in trading volume also suggests this wasn’t just a bit of retail activity; there was a meaningful amount of capital on the move.

My take is that this short-term rebound has macro sentiment behind it, but its staying power depends on two things. First, will the promised fiscal stimulus actually push inflation expectations higher? If inflation picks up again and the Fed turns hawkish, ETH and other risk assets will be among the first to take a hit. Second, can tech stocks stabilize after that 11% correction? If AI valuations keep getting hammered, risk appetite will contract again, and ETH will have a hard time avoiding the fallout. So I’m cautiously bullish, but 2416 isn’t a bad entry point—just don’t chase the price. Waiting for a pullback and confirmation would be safer.
