Zcash’s old privacy pool is about to close: With the NU7 upgrade approaching, roughly 12,200 ZEC remain in Sprout (the 2016 version), worth about $16 million at approximately $1,300 per coin. After the upgrade, v4 transaction formats that can spend Sprout coins will be rejected—coins left in the pool may become unspendable, even if you still have the private keys.

About 10,000 coins have already moved out over the past week; only 40 were moved on Wednesday. ZIP 2003 says the pool might be reopened in the future, but also warns that it may never be restored. It also cuts the block time target from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, making confirmations noticeably faster. If your old wallet address starts with “zc,” it’s best to check whether your coins are still in the pool. $ZEC #Zcash #privacy coin
