Last night, I saw ETH shoot straight up from 2275 to 2424 in one big bullish candle. My first reaction was: Is it being dragged along by BTC again?
Looking back at the data, it doesn't really look that way. Over the past 24 hours, $ETH rose 5.49%, $BTC rose 3.37%, and $SOL rose 3.26%. ETH outperformed the big brother by more than 2 percentage points. Trading volume also says a lot: BTC at 1.53 billion, ETH at 745 million, ranking second—nearly 3 times SOL (257 million).
My take:
• This isn't pure beta; funds are specifically picking ETH
• 2450 is today's high and the first resistance. A high-volume hold above it is what would confirm a breakout
• 2275 was the upper edge of the sideways range from a few days ago. Holding on a retest would still be a sign of strength; falling back below would mean it's a false breakout
What would make me admit I'm wrong: ETH closes back below 2275 while BTC also gives back its gains. Then today was just an emotional spike.
Do you think ETH will challenge 2450 first tonight, or retest 2300 first? Leave a comment and choose one.
