On today’s biggest gainers list, what I care about most isn’t who’s rising the fastest, but who has an independent reason for doing so.

$RAY is currently around $1.75, up about 14% in 24 hours, making it stand out among the top DeFi coins by market cap. I went through the public news and didn’t see any major announcement from Raydium today. It looks more like a sympathy rally as the Solana ecosystem bounced after $BTC returned to around 80,000. Trading volume is about $50 million. That’s not outrageous compared with its market cap of over $400 million, but it’s not enough to convince me this is a new leading trend.

$STX has a more compelling story: it’s around $0.35, up about 8%. On November 3, Stacks announced that eligible BitGo custody clients could use Stacks for Bitcoin staking, with positions also requiring STX worth about 5% of the market value. Institutional access is a slow-moving catalyst, and it doesn’t mean it accounts for all of today’s gains, but at least it gives us a verifiable lead beyond pure momentum.

The DePIN sector was also leading the way today, with Render up about 7.5%. I’d treat it as sector rotation for now and wouldn’t rush to chase the rally. My rule of thumb: when the broader market has just bounced back from a short squeeze, the biggest gainers with no clear independent story are often the first to give back their gains.

Would you rather keep an eye on STX, with its signs of institutional adoption, or wait to see if RAY can turn its trading volume into something more substantial? This is just my personal opinion and not investment advice.
