Liquidations rose from about 349 million to about 975 million, nearly tripling—and this time, shorts replaced longs as the main group getting liquidated.

“Midday Three Numbers · November 5”

Current prices: BTC about 80,536 (+5.3%), ETH about 2,423 (+7.8%)

• ① ETF net flows (November 3 session): Yesterday BTC -398.6M, ETH -140M → Today BTC -115.56M, ETH -85.35M, for a combined total of about -201M. Still net outflows, but down about 63% from the previous session’s roughly -539M.
• ② Funding rates (Binance/8h): BTC about +0.0100% yesterday → about +0.0025% today. Longs are paying, but the rate has fallen sharply. ETH about +0.0064% yesterday → about -0.0027% today, flipping from longs paying to shorts paying.
• ③ 24h liquidations: About 349 million yesterday (around 77% longs) → about 975 million today (CoinGlass figures). Shorts accounted for about 575 million, or roughly 59%, reversing the balance between longs and shorts.

Taken together, the three figures show ETF outflows narrowing sharply as prices rebound, with the direction of leveraged liquidations reversing too. For the first time, short liquidations exceeded long liquidations, and ETH funding rates have already turned negative—suggesting that the appetite for paying to short is waning.

Shorts are now the main group getting liquidated. Which side are you on: will the rebound keep squeezing shorts, or is this just a one-day bounce after being oversold? Pick a side in the comments.
