I’ve made tenfold gains, been liquidated, and stayed up for two days and nights watching candlestick charts—I’ve been through it all.

That’s exactly why I want to share some honest advice with retail investors.

There are 8 pitfalls. The sooner you avoid them, the more money you’ll save:
1. Don’t buy a pile of coins
If your capital is under seven figures, keeping an eye on 3–5 coins is enough. Buy too many and you can’t keep up with them; in the end, you won’t be able to hold on to any of them.

2. Don’t put everything into one sector
Trends rotate. Pick 3–5 sectors and choose a leader in each. Don’t stake your future on a single narrative.

3. Don’t think you’re smarter than the market
The market has a way of humbling the overconfident. Respect volatility and keep learning—that’s the only way to survive.

4. Impatience is a major problem for retail investors
You always want to go all in, stay fully invested, and can’t wait for a good price. You see others gaining and get anxious; you chase the price and get stuck. There are plenty of opportunities in crypto—patience is worth more than quick fingers.

5. When it’s time to act, don’t drag your feet
You hesitate when the signal comes, then kick yourself after the price has risen. If you see an opportunity, take a shot; if you’re wrong, get out. Don’t let a short-term trade turn into a long-term hold.

6. Not setting a stop-loss means leaving your capital to luck
Admit when you’re wrong and cut your losses—that’s how you get another chance. You only realize how costly liquidation is after you’ve been through it.

7. Learn to read the big players
The sharpest drops often turn out to be shakeouts. Don’t panic and sell at the bottom; first, figure out what the big players are up to.

8. The worst thing is thinking the first 7 points don’t apply to you
I thought the same way back then, and eventually paid the price for every one of them.

Eight years in the market—I’ve seen both surges and crashes. I’m no guru; I’ll just say this:

Surviving matters more than making quick money.
