Nvidia just told its global data center partners: Chinese customers can take no more than 49% of your business.

In an FT exclusive, Nvidia’s sales teams have been verbally instructing cloud providers worldwide that at least 51% of services under new contracts must go to non-Chinese clients. Existing deals are untouched.

This is a direct hit on the biggest loophole in US chip controls: Chinese AI companies renting Blackwell GPUs in Singapore, Malaysia and elsewhere to train models remotely without ever importing the hardware.

The economics make it clear why it matters. A B300 rack sells for ~$600k internationally. Inside China it’s fetching $2.5 million+. Overseas cloud capacity has become the critical pressure point.

Nvidia’s response: American infrastructure has to win worldwide or America loses the AI race. Regional cloud operators say strict enforcement will crush them in markets where non-Chinese demand is thin.
