IREN’s Horizon 4 data center in Texas, built for Microsoft under a deal worth about $9.7 billion, is still missing backup generators and cooling equipment, according to an analysis of satellite imagery by Aterio.

This raises the risk that the project will not be delivered before the end of the year. Another project in New Jersey, being developed for Nebius with an expected capacity of about 140 MW, could be delayed until 2027.

Microsoft's AI-related capital expenditures last quarter were about $5 billion lower than expected, and the company lowered its full-year forecast. Microsoft's CFO said delays in deliveries from third-party cloud service providers were one of the main reasons.

A Microsoft spokesperson said the company's infrastructure strategy remains flexible. IREN and DataOne declined to comment.
