Wu Blockchain learned that Brazilian cryptocurrency exchange Mercado Bitcoin announced it will gradually restore website access starting November 9. In the first phase, users will only be able to check their account balances, transaction history, and asset information. Transfers, withdrawals, and trading will be restored in stages after security checks are completed. Regarding the recent security incident, Mercado Bitcoin said it will fully reimburse affected customers for their lost assets using its own funds, and has begun preparing to buy back the assets in domestic and international markets. With assistance from Tether, Circle, Paxos, Chainalysis, and other organizations, assets worth more than $15 million have already been prevented from being transferred or liquidated. The company said it is still investigating the incident and cooperating with the relevant authorities. It also stressed that the $20 million investment it recently received from Tether is intended for business expansion, not to cover a liquidity shortfall.
