【Hacker funds pass through Tron again, adding another layer of “dirt” to the TRX chain】

CoinDesk reports that North Korean hackers have resumed laundering stolen Binance funds through THORChain, swapping ETH for BTC. An earlier batch of funds had moved from Tron. Don’t rush to treat this as bearish: it doesn’t mean TRX benefits; it only shows TRX has appeared again in an unusual flow of funds. Exchange net flows, whale transfers, and active addresses can’t be interpreted mechanically without considering where the funds came from.

TRX is down 0.9% over 24 hours and 2.9% over 7 days, with low trading volume and a Fear & Greed Index reading of 34. The price hasn’t collapsed, but it hasn’t shown any real strength in recovery either. It’s 25.9% below its ATH; I’d rather wait for confirmation than call it cheap.

In practice, those who rely on TRON for transfers, swaps, or market making will be the first to face compliance scrutiny, liquidity discounts, and reputational costs. Related users may also face the risk of having their funds traced and frozen. Justin Sun’s pursuit of $45 million in WLFI tokens and bid to sanction its UAE ties could bring reputational and legal friction, but it can’t be directly counted as TRX revenue or new demand. From a business perspective, the fact that a money-laundering route works shows that transfers are efficient; it doesn’t mean the core business has gained a good new revenue stream.

In the medium term, I’m watching just three indicators: whether whales are sending coins to exchanges, whether exchange net inflows are growing, and whether active addresses are rising in tandem. Rising net inflows without a pickup in activity look like tokens changing hands; net outflows alongside active addresses could indicate buying support during sideways trading. If the data aren’t moving in the same direction, don’t make up a story for the market.

On-chain data doesn’t lie. What do you think? Are you itching to trade this move?
