The Ethereum Foundation has launched publicsector.ethereum.foundation, a website for governments, multilateral organizations, NGOs, and other public-interest institutions. It brings together explanations of Ethereum, case studies of real-world implementations, and practical resources.

The underlying idea: Ethereum is a global network that no organization controls, with open-source software. This allows institutions to share infrastructure without relying on a single provider and to verify records themselves, while retaining control over their own policies and systems.

Two examples highlighted by the Foundation:

🔹 Bhutan. Its National Digital Identity (NDI) system allows identities to be verified remotely. Citizens store their credentials in their own wallets and decide what information to share. A record on Ethereum makes it possible to verify that the credentials are authentic without publishing them on the network.

🔹 Humanitarian aid. The Foundation’s Technical Foundations team has developed a proof of concept combining decentralized identity and private payments, so that several organizations can coordinate aid without exchanging personal data.
