According to CNBC, CIBC named 36 stocks it viewed as potential beneficiaries after Democrats swept the midterms, favoring major technology platforms, multinationals and lower-volatility companies in a more defensive, regulation-driven environment. The basket included Meta Platforms, Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft, Palo Alto Networks, Accenture, Visa, Cigna Group, Republic Services and NextEra Energy. CIBC said a possible slowdown in Texas data-center development after Republican Gov. Greg Abbott’s defeat could weigh on AI industrial stocks near term; governor-elect Gina Hinojosa has advocated a moratorium on new construction and permits. The bank said hyperscalers could benefit if data-center spending is spread over a longer period, and noted Microsoft’s $25 billion and Meta’s $15 billion debt sales. CIBC expected most or all scheduled data centers to be built. Its separate Republican basket included 45 stocks, among them Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices, Broadcom, Vertiv and GE Vernova.
