French banks have been dragged into crypto money-laundering schemes too—and that stings even more than an exchange hack. On-chain investigator ZachXBT alleges that French cooperative bank Crédit Mutuel Arkéa may have been the victim of a theft worth more than $133 million. On November 2, more than $106 million was reported to have left accounts at centralized exchanges; on November 3, another roughly $27 million was traced, bringing the total to over $133 million. Independent on-chain tracking by Bitquery corroborates the bulk of the movements: about $108.8 million in USDC flowed from Kraken, Crypto.com, and OKX to 15 wallets over roughly 21 hours, across 178 transactions. Around $63 million in stablecoins was converted via UniswapX into 27,553 ether in about four hours, then routed through instant exchanges, converted into Monero, and laundered through a chain of cross-chain bridges. One important distinction: on November 4, the bank acknowledged a cyberattack and said the fraudulent transactions had been contained and customers’ interests were unaffected, but it did not confirm the $133 million figure. That amount remains ZachXBT’s estimate. The lesson is simple: today, the target isn’t the blockchain—it’s exchange accounts and traditional bank transfer gateways. Leave one hole in the safeguards, and money can be laundered through several layers in just 21 hours.#安全 #On-chain tracking
