$NEAR Bullish news: Annual issuance cap cut from 2.5% to 1.6%; NEAR rises 7.2% in a day
NEAR is currently at $4.136, up 7.18% over 24 hours, with $27.1 million in trading volume and a range of $3.694 to $4.273
A proposal passed in the House of Stake governance vote to lower the annual issuance cap from 2.5% to 1.6% over 24 months. Newly issued tokens will still be allocated 90% to stakers and 10% to the treasury
A lower issuance cap means less new supply enters circulation each year, easing long-term selling pressure from outside staking. This is a direct positive for the supply side
This is the second issuance cut: in October 2025, the rate was lowered from 5% to 2.5%
Implementation still requires a Security Council review, a 90-day buffer period, and validator upgrades, so it will not take effect immediately.
