【Up 4.5% in a week, down 9.7% in a month: Is ETH rebounding or recovering?】

ETH is at $2,436, up 6.3% in 24 hours. Over the past week, it looks like a recovery; over the past month, it’s still down 9.7%. The tide hasn’t turned yet, but the worst may be over.

The divergence is what I’m watching: the Fear and Greed Index is at 34, with a weekly average of 34. The market is still fearful, yet ETH is rebounding, with trading volume exceeding 5% of its market cap. Long-term investors may be starting to view the 50.7% drawdown as an area to watch. I got it right this time by not calling a rebound a reversal. What I nearly got wrong was treating higher volume as a sign that a trend had begun; BTC dominance is 59.5%, so capital hasn’t spread across the market broadly.

In practical terms, traders have to contend with high volatility, while cross-chain, DEX, and custody teams need to reassess their security. THORChain halted some of its networks because of a refund vulnerability, then restored most networks, including BTC and ETH. RUNE rose 15%. A system’s ability to recover doesn’t mean the risk has disappeared; fault tolerance is what determines whether a business can keep operating.

Ethereum researcher Justin Drake hopes to complete the post-quantum, AI-resistant migration by December 2028. It won’t determine whether prices rise or fall next week, but it will reshape the roadmaps of developers and infrastructure providers.

Next week, watch the Fear Index, ETH’s recovery and support, and the three remaining THORChain networks. Do you think this is a genuine reversal or just a recovery after a steep decline?
