The $1.1 trillion asset management giant is starting to move real assets on-chain: Schroders announced today that it’s partnering with Centrifuge to turn its emerging-market bond strategy into a tokenized product on Solana—its first product launch on the network. Pay attention to the structure and don’t get misled by the headline: investors won’t receive the underlying bonds themselves, but on-chain shares in a feeder fund, whose value tracks the net asset value of the underlying fund. The underlying fund itself remains within its existing structure. The offering terms, minimum investment, and launch date have not been disclosed. Why is this worth watching? Until now, institutional on-chain products have mostly been cash-like instruments such as money market funds and short-term Treasuries. This time, it’s actively managed emerging-market debt—government and corporate bonds spanning a range of developing economies and currencies. In other words, tokenization is moving beyond cash management into actual credit assets. More than $750 million in tokenized assets already sit on the Centrifuge platform, but that doesn’t guarantee liquidity: being transferable on-chain doesn’t mean the underlying bonds can be sold at any time or shares redeemed whenever you want. Institutional adoption is a slow-moving trend; don’t treat it as a short-term signal. #RWA #Tokenization
