Core Lightning has a new patch: who should pay attention?

The development team has just released v26.06.10 and recommends that operators upgrade as soon as possible

The changelog describes a bug that allowed a peer to open a channel with unfavorable parameters, causing the channel balance to be depleted as fees if the channel had to be force-closed. The new release also fixes several security vulnerabilities and bugs that could cause a node to stop working

Some security tests are being temporarily withheld to give operators more time to upgrade before the technical details are made public

It’s important to understand the scope: this is an announcement about Core Lightning software used to operate Lightning nodes. People who only hold BTC should not interpret this as meaning “Bitcoin has been broken”

My take: payment infrastructure can run very quickly, but its security still depends on keeping software up to date and managing access rights. If you use a third-party Lightning service, it’s worth asking what software they’re running and how they’ve handled the patch

Do you usually check the security update schedule for the wallets or services you use?
