The U.S. released two major employment reports today. The takeaway is simple: the labor market is neither too hot nor too cold, so don’t rush to bet on rate cuts. ADP reported 86,000 new private-sector jobs in October, above market expectations of around 67,000–69,000. September’s figure was revised down from 90,000 to 86,000, while pay rose 3.2% year over year. The ISM Services PMI came in at 54.5 in October, below expectations of 54.8 and September’s 54.9, but marking the sector’s 28th consecutive month of expansion. New orders, the biggest weak spot, fell from 59.8 to 55.9. The employment index, by contrast, rebounded from 50.1 to 51.4, while the prices index remained uncomfortably high at 73.0. Taken together, the services sector is still expanding, hiring hasn’t collapsed, and inflationary pressures haven’t eased. Friday’s official jobs report is the one that will really set the direction—don’t go all-in on a one-way bet before then.#宏观 #EmploymentData
