What is a blob, and how does it make Layer 2 cheaper? Don’t worry, your class rep is here to explain:
EIP-4844 introduced a new type of transaction that carries blobs. Each blob consists of 4,096 data chunks of 32 bytes each, or about 128 KB.
Blobs are cheaper because their data is only kept for about 18 days rather than stored permanently, and it isn’t processed by the EVM, which greatly reduces the burden on nodes.
You only learn to read the instructions after paying too much tuition.
