EEZ’s testnet Rollup X made its debut at Devcon—with a focus on “calling mainnet in a single transaction.”
The official blog featured three demos: placing an order on CoW Swap through Rollup X, with the solver tapping Ethereum mainnet liquidity directly and the tokens returning to the rollup in the same transaction—no bridge, no waiting, no second signature; atomically changing owners across L1/L2 with Safe, while also sharing spending limits; and verifying Falcon post-quantum signatures on the rollup for use on mainnet, cutting mainnet gas from about 5.5 million to around 495,000—a reduction of roughly 91%.
A caveat: it’s still a testnet, so don’t put serious money into it. The core protocol is still undergoing independent audits. On the roadmap, Gnosis Chain plans to stop being an independent L1 in spring 2027 and migrate via hard fork to become EEZ’s first general-purpose zone—with contracts, balances, addresses, chain ID, and xDAI all retained. EEZ is a Swiss nonprofit, co-funded by the EF, and open source; it isn’t a product of Gnosis alone.
Fragmentation has been debated for a long time. Whether mainnet liquidity can really be “called over in a single transaction” remains to be seen—watch for the mainnet launch and audit results. $ETH #EEZ #Gnosis #Devcon
