BlackRock moved $702 million in BTC and ETH to Coinbase Prime — but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s selling.

The facts: On Nov. 3, a wallet linked to a BlackRock ETF moved 7,244 BTC (about $558.6 million) and 63,600 ETH (about $143.6 million) to Coinbase Prime, totaling about $702.3 million (TokenPost, BSC News, and KuCoin, Nov. 3, based on Onchain Lens data). This wasn’t the first time: on Oct. 23, the same wallet moved about $355.6 million to the same platform. The official reason for these transfers hasn’t been disclosed.

My take: Transfers to a prime broker like this are most often related to ETF operations — creations, redemptions, or custody — not proof of a sale. Reading it automatically as “BlackRock is selling” is a leap: a transfer alone doesn’t confirm a sale. The context is indeed redemptions — U.S. spot ETFs recorded outflows of −$115.6 million in BTC and −$85.3 million in ETH during the Nov. 3 session (Farside Investors) — but those are fund-flow figures, not proof tied to this particular transfer.

What I’m watching: subsequent ETF flows and whether similar transfers recur as redemptions continue.

What do you think — is a transfer this large better read as a signal, or as routine operations being blown out of proportion?

This is my analysis, not financial advice — always DYOR.
