Justin Drake, a researcher at the Ethereum Foundation, has set December 2028 as his target date for Ethereum to transition to post-quantum security. The transition could require three more hard forks after Glamsterdam.
The goal is to protect the network against future quantum computers that could break the cryptography used today.
However, December 2028 is Drake’s personal target date, not an officially approved deadline. The Ethereum Foundation’s current roadmap points to December 2029, and another review is planned for January 2027.
