Texas’s new governor wants to pause construction of new data centers.

More than a quarter of the computing capacity planned across the U.S. is slated for Texas. One construction freeze, and AI-related stocks panicked overnight—South Korean and Japanese chipmakers got hit too.

The internet quickly split into two camps:
One side says, “Politics is killing AI infrastructure. America is shooting itself in the foot.”
The other says, “Why should all the power and water go to server farms? Locals shouldn’t have to foot the bill for Wall Street.”

I’m with the latter.
People argue every day about whether AI is a bubble. What may really be scary isn’t some earnings report—it’s projects being blocked before they get off the ground. If the data centers can’t be built, even the brightest picks-and-shovels plays are no use.

Honestly: do you think this is reasonable regulation, or is the AI story about to collapse?

Pick a side. No fence-sitting.
