Former Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown defeated incumbent Republican Senator Jon Husted to reclaim his Senate seat. Crypto PAC Fairshake poured about $30 million into this race this year, hoping to keep Brown out of Washington—but still came up short.
Brown previously chaired the Senate Banking Committee and has taken a tough stance on crypto. In 2024, Fairshake also spent around $12 million to help Bernie Moreno defeat him. Now that Democrats have retaken the Senate, Brown could end up chairing the Agriculture Committee, which oversees digital assets and prediction markets. Someone told The Block that if he becomes chair, he’s unlikely to proactively push for crypto legislation.
