🔥 Today’s Highlights
1️⃣ U.S. Midterm Elections: Political Landscape Shifts
The Democrats won control of both the House and Senate. The market is concerned that progress on crypto-friendly legislation, including the CLARITY Act, may slow, increasing regulatory uncertainty.
Before the election results were announced, BTC briefly fell to $75,700, then quickly rebounded above $78,000. The market is reassessing the balance of power in Congress and the impact future policies may have on risk assets.
2️⃣ Binance Releases Investigation Report on Security Incident
Regarding the major theft of approximately $6.34B on October 29, Binance disclosed the initial attack pathway: the attackers contacted employees through fake job interviews, persuaded them to download project files containing malicious code, and then gradually infiltrated internal systems.
The FBI attributed the attack to the North Korea-linked group TraderTraitor. Binance said that as of October 31, approximately 98% of the affected assets had been replenished, while about $2.85B had been frozen or intercepted. Security at trading platforms, internal access management, and asset transparency remain key market concerns.
3️⃣ Block Reaches Agreement in Principle with the U.S. Department of Justice
Jack Dorsey’s Block reached an agreement in principle with the U.S. Department of Justice to resolve an anti-money laundering compliance investigation, with a deferred prosecution agreement proposed. The amount involved is approximately $964M. After deducting credits for previous regulatory settlements, the expected net payment is about $764M. The final agreement still needs to be completed and approved by the court.
This is another reminder to the market that the long-term competitiveness of crypto businesses depends not only on technology and user growth, but also on compliance capabilities.
4️⃣ Moscow Exchange Plans to List BTC, ETH, and USDT
The Moscow Exchange plans to launch digital currency trading starting December 1. The initial offerings will include BTC, ETH, and USDT, with clearing handled through the National Clearing Center.
