The roles are reversed? AMD soars after earnings, while Intel tanks

Honestly, it’s a little bittersweet. The little sidekick that used to trail behind Intel just released its Q3 2026 earnings report and completely upstaged the big brother

Revenue totaled $13.38 billion, up 45% year over year. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $2.09, up 74%. Both beat expectations

The most impressive part was data center revenue: $8.55 billion, a massive 97% jump, now accounting for nearly 64% of total revenue

So here’s the question: both companies are growing, so why are their stock prices worlds apart?

Put simply, the playing field has changed. AMD used to compete with Intel for CPU market share. But now we’re in the age of computing power, and GPUs are worth far more than CPUs. AMD is now going up against Nvidia, competing for a slice of the AI-computing pie. The growth potential is on a completely different scale

Intel took another hit, too. Its revenue guidance for next quarter came in below expectations—and that was the final straw that really dragged down the stock

My take? AMD’s earnings are good, but solid rather than spectacular. The good news was already priced in. After Intel’s 60% pullback, it may actually be a better long-term play. I’d build a position in stages rather than rush in all at once!

When the US market opens tonight, I’ll be heading in with the Krabby Patty crew, ready to trade on the fly~
