The Zcash Community Grants Committee (ZCG) has withdrawn a proposal to reallocate around 98,000 ZEC to future mining rewards, after facing opposition from the community.

The proposal was put forward on October 29. ZCG decided not to proceed, saying that future fund allocations should be decided through Zcash’s usual governance process.

ZCG receives 8% of newly created ZEC, and its existing funds are sufficient to support its operations for several years. Controversy over a previous grant to the ZECsy project has also fueled community concerns about ZCG continuing to receive more funds.

Sean Bowe, Zooko Wilcox, and Daira-Emma Hopwood have proposed different funding reform options, but none have been approved. ZCG continues to receive about 144 ZEC per day until a network upgrade changes the rules.
