GitBook’s infrastructure credentials were compromised in an AI-assisted intrusion, forcing it to shut down and urge users to rotate their tokens immediately. On the same day, Binance traced a $6.3 billion hack to fake job interviews and a compromised AI tool. The hackers used an employee’s computer and stolen credentials to access wallet infrastructure. Taken together, these incidents show that attackers have shifted their focus from exchange hot wallets to the tools developers use every day. I’ve been watching this trend for a while. Platforms like GitBook are the default choice for almost every crypto project, and if credentials leak, nobody knows how much of the downstream infrastructure could be exposed. The BTCPay incident followed a similar pattern. The industry has poured so much money into hardware wallets and multisig, yet the entry points were a SaaS tool for writing documentation and an AI assistant used for interviews.$BTC $HYPE
