A couple of days ago, I decided to sit out a new token launch. It ended up roughly doubling in just a few minutes, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel a little regret.

But while reviewing the contract, I noticed a line saying the team could open the pool early at any time, at a price roughly equal to the minting cost.

That means whether the price goes up depends entirely on the team’s mood and how hard people are shilling it—not on anything I can judge. So I’ve made a rule for myself: before getting in, I’ll first check who can open the pool early. I’ll only consider projects whose contracts explicitly say “the pool opens only when it’s full.” Missing out on one gain is better than getting burned once by an “early pool opening.”

Do you check contract permissions before joining a new token launch, or do you just jump in based on the hype?
