France’s National Assembly rejected two proposed crypto exit taxes.
One proposal sought to include crypto assets under the existing exit tax; the other targeted unrealized gains on household holdings exceeding approximately €800,000. In both votes, opposition votes clearly outnumbered those in favor. Meanwhile, a vote on the revenue section of the 2027 budget was delayed again, with amendments continuing to pile up.
The rejection of both proposals doesn’t mean the debate over crypto taxation is over. Budget negotiations are still dragging on, and the relevant provisions could be revised and brought back to the table.
