Last quarter, it earned just 3 cents per share. This quarter, consensus has jumped straight above $1. Can this old-line paper business deliver a comeback performance on Friday?
Sylvamo will report its Q3 2026 results before the U.S. market opens on 11-06. The earnings call is at 10:00 a.m. ET (23:00 Beijing time on 11-06). Consensus is about $1.04–$1.13 per share (vs. $1.44 in the same period last year, down about 27.8%–21.5% year over year), with revenue of about $815–$818 million (vs. $846 million last year, down about 3.7%–3.3%). Last quarter, EPS of $0.03 beat expectations, while revenue of $806 million came in slightly below the $811 million forecast. Zacks ESP is 0.00%, consensus has been unchanged over the past 30 days, and the model does not point to an earnings beat. Adjusted EBITDA more than doubled last quarter to $60 million from $29 million in Q1, while free cash flow remained negative at $23 million, though it improved from the prior quarter.
In my view, the key test in this earnings report isn’t whether EPS tops $1, but whether the transformation story can deliver: a beat alongside stability in all three areas—paper prices, orders, and costs—would be concrete proof of a turnaround. Meeting consensus while costs or orders falter would amount to no more than a seasonal rebound. If revenue lands near the low end or costs eat into profits again, the margin for error will need to be reassessed. I wouldn’t chase the first premarket move; I’d wait for the call to break down orders by region and full-year guidance before judging how much of the story is becoming reality. $SLVM
