How is a coin's market cap calculated?
Market cap rankings are usually sorted by circulating market cap. Rankings also change constantly with prices, and a high ranking doesn't mean a coin is safer.
Market cap is simply the price multiplied by the circulating supply. It doesn't represent the actual amount of money flowing in. When trading is quiet, even a small amount of money can significantly move the market cap.
